Japanese American luminaries

Eight entries that I contributed to an exciting online Japanese American encyclopedia are accessible here, published by the Seattle-based non-profit organization Denshō. I contributed entries on writers Toshio Mori, Monica Sone and Hisaye Yamamoto, poet Lawson Fusao Inada and artist Roger Shimomura. Three other entries are on Ansel Adams, who published a book of photographs of the Manzanar concentration camp, social justice activist Aki Kurose, and Herbert Nicholson, a Quaker hero to the imprisoned Japanese during World War II.

Densho is dedicated to preserving the stories of Japanese Americans who were unjustly imprisoned during World War II, educating the public about this chapter of American history and inspiring action for equity.
